The Fortino
This year, the Lindy Hop Marathon will once again take place entirely in the magnificent hall of Fortino ASD, in Turin.
The Fortino is a beautiful space in the heart of the city, just a short walk from the center and the typical and renowned Porta Palazzo market (the largest open-air market in Europe for fruit, vegetables, and food products) and the Balon (famous for antiques and its vintage items).
The room where we will dance
A 7,500 sq ft space with large windows and a view of the river, very bright during the day, featuring over 5,000 sq ft of wooden parquet dance floor to ensure all dancers have a comfortable and unforgettable dancing experience!
Revitalization of the hall
The transformation of the Fortino hall is the latest titanic endeavor of La Bicicleta ASD, organizer of the Turin Lindy Hop Marathon.
The project began its bureaucratic processes at the end of April 2016 and involved the recovery of an underutilized indoor bocce court, given the small number and advanced age of the players.
The recovery and maintenance work began on July 11, 2016, and just two months later, on September 17, 2016, the inaugural event was held thanks to the tireless efforts of over 60 volunteer members who are tango and swing dancers.
Thanks to the fundraising and the generous loans from the founding members, over 100 thousand euros have been invested in the modernization, soundproofing, safety improvements, and repaving of the facility.
All of this in over 22,000 hours of work done by volunteer members, who still periodically take care of the sports facility that daily hosts sports activities and events, lindy hop classes, recreational activities, and cultural events!
